1. Who We Are
Built by Mikanagu Group – Kesho is a digital ledger application that helps merchants and patrons record balance information. We are not a bank, payment processor, or financial institution.
2. What We Collect
Information you provide:
- Merchant business name, merchant name, phone number, city, country
- Patron names and phone numbers as entered by the merchant
- Balance records: amounts, dates, due dates, notes
Information collected automatically:
- App crash reports (via Firebase Crashlytics)
- Device type and OS version for crash diagnosis only
✓ We do NOT collect: bank account numbers, credit/debit card details, government ID numbers, actual financial transaction data, or passwords (PINs are hashed and never readable).
3. How We Use Your Data
- To display your ledger records within the app
- To send SMS verification messages to confirm balance records (the “Digital Handshake”)
- To diagnose app crashes and improve stability
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing.
4. SMS & Phone Numbers
Phone numbers are used solely to send balance confirmation SMS messages. Message frequency depends on merchant usage. Standard carrier rates may apply. To opt out, contact your merchant.
5. Data Storage & Security
Data is stored on your device and in Google Firebase (Firestore), which is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. PINs are hashed and are never stored in readable form.
6. Data Retention
Records are retained until you delete your account or request deletion. You may request deletion by emailing privacy@keshoapp.com.

8. Children
Kesho is not intended for users under 13.

Kesho is a digital record-keeping application — a digital ledger. It allows merchants to log balance records and allows patrons to confirm those records via SMS. Kesho is the digital equivalent of a paper notebook or ledger book.
2. What Kesho Is NOT
- Kesho is NOT a bank, financial institution, or payment processor
- Kesho does not hold, move, process, or facilitate any financial transactions
- Any financial arrangements are solely between the merchant and patron
- Kesho bears no responsibility for any money owed, paid, or disputed between users
3. User Responsibilities
- Merchants are responsible for the accuracy of all records entered
- Patrons are responsible for verifying balances before confirming
- Both parties are responsible for resolving any disputes directly with each other
4. Acceptable Use
- Users must not enter false or fraudulent records
- Users must not use Kesho to harass, defraud, or harm others
- Users must keep their PIN confidential
5. Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
Kesho is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee that records are legally binding documents. Users should maintain their own records for official purposes.
7. Limitation of Liability
Mikanagu Group is not liable for any financial loss, dispute, or damage arising from use of the application.
8. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Burundi and applicable East African Community regulations.
